  • Full Body Brushing

    Full Body Brushing

    Placeholder Picture

    What is it?

A Full Body Brushing is a calming treatment that has many benefits, not only to your skins aesthetic appearance, but also to your general wellbeing as it may help detoxify your body by eliminating waste from the lymphatic system. A soft brush is used to remove dead skin build-up, helping reduce cellulite and prevent premature ageing while obtaining brighter, smoother, softer looking skin. Many people use Full Body Brushing as a stand-alone stress relieving treatment, others prefer it pre massage or body wrap.

    What can I expect?

To begin we will discuss your individual concerns, expectations from the treatment, and any areas you would like given extra attention. After you remove your outer garments and make yourself comfortable on the treatment couch I will commence the Full Body Brushing using a traditional technique. A soft, natural-fibre body brush will be swept over your skin in an upward movement, towards the major lymph nodes in the body, such as the armpits and base of neck. Your input will help determine the correct level of pressure is used – deeper more intense pressure may be applied on the larger areas of the body, moving to lighter strokes with less pressure on the more delicate areas. To finish, a moisturising preparation will be lightly massaged into your skin leaving it feeling soft, supple and looking radiant.

    Potential benefits:

    • Encourages circulation and lymphatic drainage helping release toxins.
    • Regular brushing may help to reduce cellulite.
    • Exfoliates the skin and removes dead skin cells for softer more healthy appearance.
    • The invigorating treatment may increase cell reproduction for younger looking skin.
    • Assists with the prevention of dry skin, as it stimulates sebum secretion from the sebaceous glands, leading to softer, lustrous skin.
    • The act of dry brushing has been described as meditative and may reduce muscle tension, calm your mind, and relieve stress.
  • Exfoliating Body Polish

    What is it?

An Exfoliating Body Polish is a spa treatment designed to rejuvenate the skin on your body leaving it feeling fresh, hydrated and soft. Not only does it help improve circulation in the skin and fight cellulite but you may use the treatment to prepare your skin for a more even spray tan. I offer a choice of scrubs and herbal oils to suit your skin type and needs, whether your desire is to wake up or wind down. This treatment is suitable as a stand-alone experience but is often enjoyed pre-massage or body wrap.

    What can I expect?

While you lay relaxed I will massage the scrub you choose across your skin, exfoliating of the outermost layer of dead skin cells. The increased blood flow to your skin throughout the treatment will encourage the production of new healthy cells. I can then wipe the product away using a warm mittens a method many people find therapeutic or if you prefer you can rinse it away in the shower. After the exfoliation your skin will be clean and fresh. Lastly I will gently massage a moisturiser into your skin leaving it feeling smooth, supple and looking radiant.

    Different scrub options:

Sugar: Sugar is mixed with oils or creams and is better suited to more sensitive skin.
Salt and oil: Finely granulated salt is mixed with essential, moisturising oil.
Herbal: I can mix a herbal oil with the exfoliating scrub, such as rosemary, lavender or frankincense depending on your skin type and the experience you require.

    Potential benefits:

    • Skin is left feeling soft and luscious.
    • Rehydrate and energise the skin while giving the senses a blast of adrenalin.
    • Refines and polishes to help boost micro-circulation and replenish the skin.
    • A scrub can be really invigorating; it will improve the circulation of blood and lymph to the surface of the skin.
    • It will help to both fight cellulite and improve your skin tone - especially useful pre-tan.
    • This treatment gives you a chance to relax your mind and enjoy the sensations.
  • Full Body Wrap

    Full Body Wrap

    Placeholder Picture

    What is it?

A Full Body Wrap is a bundle of beautifully relaxing spa treatments designed to cleanse and nourish the body, relax the mind and rejuvenate the soul. As well as the stress relieving 'Body Wrap' the experience includes a Dry Brushing, a light Massage using warm oils, and a gentle Facial. Body Wraps are fantastic for helping with many skin conditions, muscle and joint pain along with general wellbeing. We will discuss your specific needs in detail and I will plan the treatment accordingly.

    What can I expect?

This is a luxurious experience from start to finish, to begin you will be asked to lay face down on a freshly heated under blanket; this is both for your comfort and to aid the absorption of the products more effectively. The first stage of this deeply relaxing process is to dry brush your body; this is to aid the removal of dead skin cells. Next I will apply your own personal prescription of warm oils; the fragrance of oil will correlate with the sensation you desire. The oils are applied through light massage stokes paying particular attention to any problem areas. You will then turn over and have the treatment repeated to the front of your body. Next you will be wrapped in a plastic sheet and covered with blankets allowing the oils time to work deep into your skin. Whilst you are under the blankets you will enjoy a lovely acupressure facial massage, then for the remainder of the treatment you will be left alone to relax and drift away, leaving you feeling refreshed, with soft, hydrated skin.

    Potential benefits:

    • Will help to ease aching muscles and joints
    • Increases circulation and blood flow
    • Hydrates and moisturisers the skin giving the whole body a brighter more toned and invigorated appearance
    • Aids skin renewal and regeneration
    • May help with cellulite
    • Deeply relaxing and stress reducing
    • May help with weight loss due to toxin elimination

    Want the ultimate indulgence?

For a more intense experience I can add a layer of Dead Sea Mud to your full body following the application of the warm oil. The Dead Sea Mud is high in minerals, including sodium, iron, and calcium, so it nourishes the skin beautifully. It also may improve the skin's elasticity and has even been known to help relieve muscle pain. You will be required to shower after the relaxation time, and a body moisturising preparation will be applied to complete the process. This will add £10 to the final cost and increase the treatment time up to 30 minutes.

  • Hopi Ear Candles

    Hopi

    Placeholder Picture

    What is it?

Hopi Ear Candles are an ancient and natural therapy, handed down by many civilisations. It is believed that the Ancient Greeks used ear candles, initially for cleansing, purifying and healing on a spiritual basis, but much later on for a purely physical basis. The practice we see today reached the modern world via the North America Hopi Indians. Ear candles originally would have been made with herbs and plant extracts and are still made today on the basis of old traditional methods originating from the Hopi Indians. With so many healing qualities this treatment has become universally popular! I will be using the finest natural organic ingredients of beeswax, untreated cotton and essential oils to pamper an treat any problems.

    How does it work?

Hopi Ear Candling is a pleasant and non-invasive treatment of the ears, used to offer calming benefits from many problems and conditions associated with the ear, nose and throat areas. The candles work on the ''chimney principle'', drawing any impurities to the surface where they can be gently removed. The rising air inside the ear sets up vibrations which gently massages the eardrum. This can help regulate the pressures involved inside the ear. The flow of air within the Ear Candle creates a circulation of concentrated vapour. This is soothing and protects the irritated areas. Most deposits or impurities are carried away through the candle “chimney", some of them may be found in the lower section of the candle after removal from the ear or some wax will work its way up to the surface 24 to 48 hours after the treatment. The Hopi Ear Candle treatment is a deeply relaxing and soothing experience.

    What can I expect?

You will be asked to lie in a comfortable position, relax and remain fairly still. The candle is then gently placed into the auditory canal, where it is lit and held in a vertical position. My hands will keep the candle steady at all times, and your hair and face will be protected with a cloth. You will then experience the pleasant crackling sound and a warm comfortable feeling as the candle burns. The candle is allowed to burn down until it reaches a specific marker indicated on its side; it is then taken away while you remain laying on your side for a few moments. The process is then repeated on the other ear. To finish the treatment you will experience a lovely, calming and relaxing lymphatic drainage massage to both the ears and face concentrating on sinus areas.

    • Relieves ear pain
    • Restores the equilibrium or pressure in the ear - helping with flying and sports such as diving

    Recommend course of treatment

There are some guidelines that can be followed with regard to the number of Hopi treatments a person can have to achieve positive results. For a problem that has come on suddenly, for example, a cold or blocked nose, it is safe to have treatments up to twice a day for the first two days and then three or four more over the next ten days. For long term problems, such as hearing loss or tinnitus, Hopi treatments can be given three times in the first week, twice in the second week and once in the third week. A Hopi treatment once a month can be beneficial for preventing problems and a continued maintenance regime.
